CORTEZ, CO – April 1, 2025 – The musical talents of Southwest Colorado’s women artists will take center stage this fall during “Amplified,” a two-day celebration of regional women in music. Created by local musician and doctor Amanda Mullen, the event will be held September 12-13, 2025, at ZU Gallery in Cortez.
“Amplified” aims to spotlight the diverse musical talents of women throughout Southwest Colorado in the intimate setting of one of the region’s premier art spaces. The event combines live performances with the unique ambiance of ZU Gallery’s art collection and wine bar experience.
“Our goal is simple but powerful—to amplify the voices of women musicians in our community,” says Abi Wild Rose, musician coordinator and “Amplified” alumni.
Musicians interested in participating can audition on May 15 2025, at ZU Gallery or submit a video by May 24, 2025. The auditions, which are open to women musicians within the Southwest Colorado region, will feature a panel of judges selecting a “Best in Show” winner, while audience members will vote for a “People’s Choice” award recipient, sponsored by LOR Foundation.
Auditions are open to solo artists and small ensembles (up to four members) across all musical genres. Performers must be 18 years or older, with original material preferred. Each audition will consist of two original songs or arrangements performed within a 10-minute time slot.
Winners in both categories will receive cash prizes from event sponsors and featured performance slots at the main September event. Up to sixteen musicians will be selected from the auditions to perform at the September showcase. All selected musicians will be paid for their performances at the main event.
Tickets for the September showcase will be $20 per person, with approximately 100 music and art enthusiasts expected to attend.
ZU Gallery regularly hosts events combining visual arts, music, and community engagement, making it an ideal venue for this celebration of regional musical talent.
