Country music is one of the most popular types of music in the world and this special type of music originated in the USA. International Country Music Day was established in the 1950s and is held each year on September 17th. ZU Gallery welcomes singer and guitarist, Hagen McDonell, to our first, free “Listening Room” event for Country Music Day!
About Hagen: “I am 70 years young, was born in Germany and adopted at 5 1/2, by an American family, whom became my family. I got my first guitar when I was 14, and taught myself how to play. I played quite a bit in the seventies with a good friend. In the 80’s I started a family, and guitar diminished and I finally had no guitar. In 2016 I bought another 12 string, and picked up where I left off, with a little practise. I now have written about 15 songs in the last four years, am a member of a group called Zarfha, playing locally. I am happily in love with my wife Nanci, and we enjoy our life here in Mancos, with our dogs and horses.”
